About JFLA Grants

We administer several types of grant programs to promote Japanese-language education in the United States. These include training programs for teachers and specialists as well as grant programs for educational institutions. Please see the list below for more informaiton.

 
Japanese Language Education Assistant Program (JLEAP)

This program brings Native Japanese Language Assistant Teachers (ATs) to  K-12 educational institutions in the U.S. for up to two years for the purpose of strengthening their Japanese language programs as well as create opportunities to nurture a new generation of qualified Japanese language teahcers.

Japanese Language Grants

 

Fiscal Year 2024-25 (4/1/24 - 3/31/25)

Grants for Individual Schools/Universities:

(1) Japanese Teaching Material Purchase Grant
Deadlines:   3/15/2024,  9/15/2024

(2) Salary Assistance Grant for Japanese Language Courses
Deadline:    4/10/2024


Grants for Nationwide, Statewide or Regional-Level Projects/Events:
(NOT for individual single institutional project)

(3) Japanese Language Learners Event Grant
Deadlines:   3/1/2024,  9/1/2024

(4) Japanese Language Education Project Grant
Deadline:  Two months prior to the project start date

 
 
JL Grant Procedures
  1. Please read the Application Instructions carefully and check your eligibility before you fill out the application form.
  2. Please inform JFLA of which program you are applying for, prior to submitting your application.
  3. Please send your Application Form to JFLA in time for the respective deadlines. (Please keep one application copy for your reference.)
