Japan Foundation Survey on Japanese Language Education Institutions 2018

Every three years, the Japan Foundation conducts a worldwide survey of institutions which teach the Japanese language. This includes Japanese-teaching public schools, private schools, non-profit organizations, for-profit companies, and more. The global results is available at the Japan Foundation Headquarters website. The main website will also feature a free database of schools which answered the 2018 JF Survey. The 2018 database is available here.

The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles (JFLA) re-edited the survey data to overview the circumstances in the United States. Please click the link below to download the official report of the results.

In the U.S., the number of learners decreased by 2.39% since 2015, with a total of 166,905 individuals.
