Online Workshop
The JFLA is happy to present two new online craft-making workshops in April and May. The workshops will be led by the exhibiting artists from the TANAGOKORO: Alternative Crafts by 16 Japanese Contemporary Artists exhibition. Kio Griffith, the curator of the exhibition will provide Japanese-English interpretation for both workshops. The workshops are free but limited to 20 participants. Registration is required.

Join us for our second online craft-making workshop and learn about how to create Japanese motif papercraft from the artist, Akihiro Yasugi. In this online workshop, participants will learn how to make a paper bonsai tree with fun and easy-to-follow instruction. The participants will receive the design template and material list which will be included in a Zoom registration confirmation email.

Come join us for this online yet hands-on workshop and learn how to carve eraser stamps and create one (or two!) with the Japanese motifs designed by the artist Rie Takanokura.
In this workshop, she will talk briefly about yo-no-bi, the concept of beauty and functionality in everyday objects. Then, she will guide participants through the basics of the stamp-making process step-by-step.
The participants will receive a design template and material list upon registration.
This workshop requires a sharp cutting tool. (The JFLA is not responsible for any injuries that may occur while using cutting tools)
