Aiko Doden is a senior commentator on international affairs at NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation. After having anchored NHK's main news programs, she moved on to be the commentator on international affairs, focusing on South East Asia and development issues. She also anchors NHK Asian Voices on NHK World and NHK BS1, a debate program in English on global issues. Formerly she was based in Thailand as correspondent, covering issues with human security implications in the region. Doden was appointed to be Japanese Government Goodwill Ambassador for UN World Summit on Information Society. She holds a B.A. in foreign studies from Sophia University, Tokyo, and an M.A. in international relations from Columbia University, New York. She is a Knight Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar and was a Fellow of Session 455, "Peace-Making and Peace-Building: Securing the Contributions of Women and Civil Society" in 2008.
