Designed to aid teachers in Japanese Educational programs, The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles brings support and professional development to those instructors that feel they need to improve their educational program in their schools. Our Japanese Language Education Programs also encourage teachers to advocate for Japanese language education in the US, and provide them with useful information for their advocacy activities.

JF Standard familiarization workshops

Japan Foundation’s (JF Standard) for Japanese-Language Education was developed under the principle of “Japanese for Mutual Understanding” as a tool to help think about teaching, learning, and assessment in Japanese-language education in line with 21st century pedagogy. This workshop is compatible with current guiding principles for language education in the U.S. such as thematic instruction and backward-designed curricula.  The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles will conduct two different types of workshops this year to introduce JF Standard.

Program for Japanese language immersion teachers in u.s. 2012

The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles will conduct a support program for Japanese language immersion teachers to participate in the Fourth International Conference on Language Immersion Education by Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) in Minneapolis, MN on October 18 – 20, 2012.

the leadership workshop reunion

The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles has trained 24 local leaders to be next-generation leaders to represent the field of Japanese language in the U.S. for the past four year.  This year, the past participants will gather during the ACTFL Annual Convention, and will discuss their accomplishments after the workshop and challenges yet to solve.  (Invitation Only)
