Grant Program for Japanese-Language Courses

This grant is designed to support Japanese-language programs in the U.S. that are facing severe financial difficulties in initiating/expanding/maintaining(surviving) their program due to budget cuts. The Japan Foundation provides financial support to educational institutions or school districts to supplement the instructor's salary for up to two years.

The grant is given on the premise that the Japanese-language program and the instructor's position at the applying institution will become self-sustaining even after the completion of the grant support from the Japan Foundation. It is recommended that the applying educational institution submit a commitment letter(supporting letter) from the person who is authorized to make a decision on whether to continue the Japanese-language program at the institute/school district (Examples: Dean, Dept. Chair, District Superintendent, Head of the Board of Education, Principal, etc.) at the time of application.
