Let’s learn Japanese with JF Nihongo!
We offer unique and exciting language courses, the JF Nihongo (Nihongo=Japanese), which are based on the Japan Foundation’s JF Standard. These courses focus on how well learners can do things in practical settings. Using materials from Japanese daily life, you will enjoy these friendly, interactive, and above all, fun courses!

The courses are designed for new Japanese-language learners, as well as those who are interested in improving their existing language skills. Each course focuses on specific themes and learning goals, such as inviting friends or business e-mail. Each course is offered once a week for 8 weeks.

Enjoy your summer with JF Nihongo! We will be offering special classes for teens, kids & parents, and JLPT test takers. “Summer Camp for Teens: Discover Little Tokyo” (July 22 – 26) is now open for registration.
about JF Nihongo
We offer regular courses during the winter (Jan- March), spring (April-June), and fall terms (Sep-Nov). During the summer term (July and Aug), special workshops and courses are offered for youth and adults through a year. Fun workshops and events are offered throughout a year. You can learn practical Japanese and culture from our experienced and passionate instructors!
How to Register
To select a course, read each course description, and answer the self-check list and assessment test to see if the course fits you. Once you choose a course, go to the registration page, fill out and submit it online. Within a week after the form submitted, mail a check, your self-check list and assessment test. Students are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Don't miss the opportunity to receive a dicount through the early bird registration and past students discount!
Location
Classes are held at two locations, Little Tokyo and Miracle Mile.
The Little Tokyo class is located at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center. As a bonus, before and/or after your class at JF Nihongo, you can also experience Japanese culture in Little Tokyo--the heart of Japanese culture and immigration in the US.
The Miracle Mile class is located at the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles office where you can take advantage of our resourceful Information Library.
